Wreford’s Private Landscaping team participated in a local project funded by the National Lottery and Britain’s Breathing Spaces Campaign. Pupils at Romsey Abbey Primary Church of England School helped design a wildlife-friendly garden within the school grounds. Wreford were called in to clear the site of weed vegetation, excavate to the required levels for the new design and to prepare and mulch new wild flower beds. In addition, a new curved, decked, boardwalk was installed around an ancient apple tree, and designed to overhang a new bog garden (see photo of works during construction – right). The school will be planting up the new garden in spring and Wreford are donating some Hazel Trees for the children to plant in the Hazel Coppice on the day of the Grand Opening.
JAPANESE KNOTWEED DEPARTMENTAL TEAMBUILDING
Item dated 20/12/07
Wreford’s Japanese Knotweed Department met yesterday to discuss past growth and future development. This was a terrific opportunity for teambuilding and feedback, since it was one of the rare occasions the entire department was able to get together around a table for a day – including all the regional operatives from the north of the UK. As well as discussing company progress and the pros and cons of different treatment techniques, all members of the department participated in workshops to showcase new technology. As a result, Wreford have invested in new equipment and adopted a welding system for joining sheets of root barrier membrane, rather than the old ‘tape’ system. Satellite imaging technology was also workshopped and is under consideration for a number of applications within the company.
