Wreford has just completed the first stage of a revamp of the Leisure World complex car park in Southampton, one of the sites it maintains. The planting inside many of the kerb islands around the car park had been damaged through a combination of vehicle and pedestrian traffic, and a series of wooden posts, designed to prevent vehicles driving onto the islands, had been broken or knocked out of alignment. Wreford have replaced the old planting system on a number of these islands with a new more attractive scheme, which will also prove more hard-wearing and practical for a site with such a high volume of public usage. The plants and wooden posts have been removed and replaced with gravel, substantial ornamental rocks and decorative grasses such as Phormium, Carex and Festuca. Wreford anticipates converting further beds in a similar manner early in 2007.
NEW CHRISTMAS TREE CONTRACT
Item dated 03/11/06
Following on from the success of providing the principal Christmas tree for Poole town centre every year since 2004, Wreford has been asked to provide three trees this year for Rushmoor Borough Council. The trees will be placed at key sites around Farnborough and Aldershot, with the smallest, around 30 feet high, situated outside the council offices. The other two trees, both 40-45 feet high, will be erected in the Princes Mead car park outside ASDA in Farnborough and at the Aldershot roundabout. All three trees will be selected by Wreford personnel from the Forestry Commission site in Ringwood and will be installed between the 14th and 28th November.
