In 2006, the popular Channel 4 property renovation series Property Ladder had featured the efforts of first-time property developer Rebecca Lang to create a high-spec five-bedroomed house in Poole, Dorset. On that project, Ms Lang had employed Wreford to transform the garden.

A year later, Wreford were proud to become associated with Ms Lang’s second development project. This time she chose a property that was failing to achieve a strong market price because of the rear garden it consisted of a steep unkempt slope, making it dangerous for children and extremely difficult to maintain. She again asked Wreford to assist her with the project, wanting us to provide a solution that would not only solve these fundamental problems but, in Rebecca Lang’s words, would also “make it into something special.”

The results were shown on a new Property Ladder programme, broadcast on Tuesday 8th January 2008. The show was a revised repeat of Ms Lang’s first development, with a ‘catch up’ segment on the end showing her latest project. Presenter, property guru Sarah Beeny, was visibly impressed with Wreford’s scheme.

On the programme’s voice-over, she enthused:
“and what a garden! It took three months to create and is now a fully functional space that can be enjoyed by children and grown-ups alike.”

In on-camera conversation with Rebecca Lang she said of the entire development: “The garden is really probably the biggest achievement in this house.” She went on to discuss the problem of making the garden family-friendly, and said the scheme had “solved it with knobs on.”
